Master of Arts by Research
The Master of Arts by Research program involves three courses and a research thesis of 30,000 words. This degree is designed for students wishing to engage in serious research but not able to devote the three years required to complete a PhD. Clear indication of potential to undertake research is required, either through a relevant Honours degree, or through a period of professional work following a relevant undergraduate degree, or completion of a special project (research) in the postgraduate coursework with an average of Distinction. The program is undertaken on a full-time basis over two years or four years part time. This degree is available for Australian students under the Research Training Scheme as well as international full-fee paying students, noting that international students must study full-time. Successful completion may be used as an entry path to PhD study.
